AI Standards Crosswalk: ISO 42001, 27001, 27090, EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF
Implement each AI control objective once and evidence it everywhere: a crosswalk of 23 shared objectives across ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27090, the EU AI Act and the NIST AI RMF, with your implementation status per objective.
Template & sample only — a structured starting point with sample content, not legal, audit, certification or investment advice. Subscribers customise it with their own details and generate the document for their own work.
What this template gives you
- Most AI compliance work overlaps: one well-evidenced control can satisfy parts of ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001, the EU AI Act and the NIST AI RMF at once.
- This template maps 23 shared control objectives across five frameworks, citing EU AI Act articles only where the link is clear.
- Record your implementation status per objective and see coverage for EU AI Act-linked objectives and each NIST AI RMF function.
- Extend it with your own control IDs and mappings, then export the crosswalk for your audit and compliance planning.
Frequently asked questions
Why build a crosswalk between AI standards?
Because the same control (an AI inventory, a risk process, logging, human oversight) is asked for by several frameworks in different words. A crosswalk lets you implement and evidence it once, and shows where one framework asks for something the others do not.
Are these mappings authoritative?
No. They are indicative starting points written in our own words. ISO/IEC 27001 is mapped to its Annex A themes only, and ISO/IEC 27090 to guidance areas described in plain language. Check every mapping against your own copies of the standards and confirm EU AI Act interpretation with counsel.
Is this a finished document I can rely on?
No. Every tool in this suite is a template with sample content. It gives you a structured, editable starting point and generates a document from your own answers, but it is not legal, audit, certification, investment or professional advice. Review and adapt the output, and have it checked by the appropriate specialist before you rely on it.
Who can use it?
The page and sample are public. Customising the template with your own details and exporting the generated document (Word, PDF, Markdown, CSV) is part of any PlayCISO paid plan. Your work is saved in your own browser.
