PCI DSS & Compliance Tools
PlayCISO offers free PCI DSS and compliance tools — a PCI DSS checklist and readiness score, an SAQ selector, a gap assessor, a QSA interview rehearsal, NIST CSF 2.0 and Essential Eight maturity scores, and 25 policy templates. Most run entirely in your browser with no signup. This hub is the canonical index of everything PlayCISO has for PCI DSS readiness, security framework maturity and GRC program work: start with the PCI Readiness Score or the NIST CSF 2.0 Score, then close the gaps with the studios and templates below.
PCI DSS compliance is really two jobs: proving where you stand against the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, and running the wider governance, risk and compliance (GRC) program that keeps you there. The tools below cover both — the PCI-specific assessment path, the framework maturity scores most programs are measured against, the studios that turn findings into a managed plan, and the templates and kits that save you from a blank page. Everything is grouped so you can jump straight to the part you need.

Frequently asked questions
Which PCI SAQ do I need?
The Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) that applies depends on how you accept and handle cardholder data — for example whether you are fully outsourced (SAQ A), use a redirect or iframe (SAQ A-EP), take card-present payments on validated terminals (SAQ B / B-IP / C-VT / C), or store, process or transmit cardholder data in your own systems (SAQ D). PlayCISO's SAQ Selector asks about your payment channels and points you to the right questionnaire, and the PCI Checklist then walks you through the requirements it covers.
What is NIST CSF 2.0?
The NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0 is a voluntary framework that organises cybersecurity risk management into six Functions — Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover — and four maturity Tiers (Partial, Risk-Informed, Repeatable, Adaptive). The Tiers describe how formalised and integrated your risk management is, not a pass/fail grade. PlayCISO's NIST CSF 2.0 Score benchmarks you across the six Functions, and the NIST CSF 2.0 Toolkit adds a maturity wheel, roadmap, crosswalk, audio flashcards and a tabletop exercise.
How do I prepare for a PCI assessment?
Start by scoping the cardholder data environment correctly — the systems that store, process or transmit cardholder data plus everything connected to them. Then run a gap analysis that maps your current controls to each PCI DSS requirement, prioritise and remediate what is missing, and rehearse the assessor conversation. On PlayCISO you can use the Gap Assessor to find the gaps, the PCI Readiness Score to see where you stand, and the QSA Interview to practise the questions a Qualified Security Assessor will ask.
Are these tools free?
Yes — most of the PCI DSS and compliance tools here are free and run in your browser with no signup, including the PCI Checklist, readiness and framework scores, SAQ Selector, Gap Assessor and the policy templates. A few advanced features (for example Vendor Risk Ranking) are part of PlayCISO Pro, which starts at $5. PlayCISO keeps a large free tier alongside paid tiers at $5, $10 and $40.
What is a PCI DSS gap analysis?
A PCI DSS gap analysis is a pre-assessment that compares your current security controls against the standard's requirements so you can find and fix gaps before a formal Report on Compliance or Self-Assessment Questionnaire. Getting scope right is the single most important step. PlayCISO's Gap Assessor runs this mapping for you, and the gap-analysis guide in the related reading below walks through scoping, running and remediating.
