PlayCISO Weekly

Cybersecurity Newsletter: Weekly Briefing for Leaders

PlayCISO Weekly is a five-minute cybersecurity email, sent every Thursday at 08:00 New York time. It gives you the week's top security incidents and AI developments in plain English, one tool or lab to try, and a one-tap poll.

No hype and no invented stories: every item links to the original report.

How to get it

There is no stand-alone email box. Use either route below; both add you to the weekly list, and every issue ends with a one-click unsubscribe.

On the scorecard, leave the “occasional CISO practice tips” box ticked. New accounts also receive a short welcome email and a weekly report card, which has separate switches in email preferences.

What is in each issue

  1. A short intro of one or two sentences and a subject line that names the week's theme.
  2. Feature of the week: one PlayCISO capability with a short animated preview, rotating through 12 categories so every edition shows something different.
  3. Incidents this week: the two most significant security incidents of the past seven days, two sentences each, with a link to the original story.
  4. AI developments: the two most significant AI stories, same format.
  5. Fun facts: three one-sentence cybersecurity facts.
  6. A quick poll: one question tied to the feature, answered with one tap.
  7. A closing link to the two-minute CISO readiness scorecard.

What an issue looks like

This is the layout, not a real edition: the headlines change every week, so we show the structure instead of recycling old stories.

The features it rotates through

Each week's feature is picked from this list, so over 12 weeks you see every area of PlayCISO once. The poll for the week asks about that area.

Where the news comes from

The incident and AI items are chosen from public feeds: The Hacker News, BleepingComputer, Artificial Intelligence News and The Decoder, plus links our editor curates by hand. A language model helps pick and summarise the week's items, and each item keeps its link to the original so you can read the source. For fast, sourced breach coverage between issues, see the blog; for what we ship, see what's new.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PlayCISO cybersecurity newsletter?

PlayCISO Weekly is a short plain-English cybersecurity email for security engineers and aspiring security leaders. When is it sent?

Weekly, on Thursday at 08:00 New York time. Each issue is built once per ISO week, so a retry or schedule change does not send it twice.

How do I subscribe?

Is it free?

Yes. The newsletter is sent to subscribers without charge.

How many people read it?
