Compress PDF · Pro · 3 free runs with a free account

Shrink a PDF, right in the browser upload.

Recompresses the images inside your PDF — the usual reason a scanned or exported PDF is huge. Text and layout are untouched. Files up to 150MB; PDFs with embedded scripts, auto-run actions or file attachments are rejected, not processed. The result is kept for 7 days so you can re-download it, then deleted.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress a PDF online?

Upload your PDF here and it is recompressed in your browser session — the tool re-encodes the images embedded in the PDF at a smaller size, which is almost always what makes a scanned or exported PDF large. You then download the smaller file. It adds no watermark. A free account gets 3 free tool runs, shared across every tool; after that the tool needs Pro, $5/month or $40/year.

Will compressing reduce the quality of my PDF?

Text and vector content stay sharp — they are not touched. Only the embedded raster images are recompressed, so the visible change is limited to photos and scans, which are the parts making the file big. For most documents the size drop is large and the quality difference is hard to notice.

Is it safe to compress a PDF here?

The file is processed for the compression and not retained beyond what the operation needs; there is no sharing. For sensitive documents, prefer tools you control, but for ordinary files this does not watermark or track the content.

What is the maximum PDF size I can compress?

Up to 150 MB per file. If your PDF is larger, splitting it first (or removing very high-resolution scans) will bring it under the limit.
